Organizations with many projects need a project timesheet to track employee hours.  Whether you are tracking billable client hours, or project actuals, you need a timesheet that shows projects assigned to those employees.  Each user should only see projects and tasks assigned to them.  This reduces the clutter, and makes their timesheet more relevant to them.  The screenshot below illustrates how projects are shown in the Standard Time timesheet.  If this works for your organization, feel free to contact us for a live demo or download Standard Time now.

Clearly, Standard Time is designed for companies with projects.  Alongside the project timesheet is a project tasks view.  It (optionally) lets you build project hierarchies, assign tasks to employees, and make those tasks appear on the timesheet.  Again, each project and task may be assigned to different employees or groups.  Ready for a demo?

Project Tasks

Each project task contains several project tracking fields.  Actual hours from the project time sheet contribute to project tracking.  Here's how:  Each task has a duration forecast.  That is the number of hours you feel the task will take.  It is optional, but useful.  After setting the duration field, employees will track actual hours in the timesheet.  Standard Time subtracts the actual hours from the forecast, showing the remaining hours.  It also shows the percent complete.  Managers can use this to see project status.

Another big reason to use project timesheets is billing clients.  If you fail to collect all your billable hours, you will not be as profitable as you hoped.  Its not a matter of greed, but rather, having reliable tools to make sure it happens.  Why leave money on the table?

There are settings in Standard Time to force all employees to choose a client, even if that client is your own company.  You can also force them to use project tasks, as discussed above.  This ensures you collect all billable time from employees and contractors.

All the other stuff
