Free Timesheet Template - Not a Good Idea!
Why are free timesheet templates bad?
Free timesheet templates work well for companies with just a few
employees. Beyond that, they quickly become a liability.
This article helps point out those limitations that cause trouble.
If you have less than five employees, you will find some value in a
free timesheet template (for Word or Excel), but if you plan to grow
beyond that, or are already beyond, take a look at Standard Time.

Simple Timesheet Software
No Flexibility
The biggest limitation is flexibility. Excel timesheet
templates look nice, but all they do is add up numbers. Unless
you are an Excel guru, they can't be extended beyond the simple
math. That's not good enough. If you want anything more
than a simple weekly total, you must use timesheet software.
That's what Standard Time does - and its not as expensive as it
sounds. Granted, its not free, but sometimes "free" costs
more in the long run.
No Useful Information (beyond totals)
How do you plan to get totals for your client billable hours?
Or, how would you find the total hours for Project X for User Y on
client Z? Timesheet templates don't do that. Only
software can do that.
Bottlenecks
Do you have one single person who inputs employee time? Bad
idea... That person becomes a bottleneck. That means
they consume a lot of time entering employee hours, and they can
make mistakes. The optimal solution is to let employees enter
their own time. They check it before it goes to a manager for
approval. You can't use a timesheet template for that.
