How to set up Standard Time for use with QuickBooks Pro

This brief article contains steps to set up the Standard Time timesheet for use with QuickBooks Pro.

Before importing Standard Time files, consider making a backup of your QuickBooks Company file.

1. Export a QuickBooks IIF List file.
   Before you can integrate Standard Time with QuickBooks, you must install the Timer option in QuickBooks Pro and export a QuickBooks IIF List file.  QuickBooks exports "List" files, and imports "Timer" files.  Choose File, Timer, Export Lists for Timer within QuickBooks.  (Only QuickBooks Pro has the timer option).

2. QuickBooks Integration Options.
   Choose Tools, Integration Options within Standard Time to set up QuickBooks.  This will instruct Standard Time to automatically import the QB List file, and write a Timer file.

3. Optionally export a QuickBooks IIF Timer file.
   Choose File, Export within Standard Time to optionally export a QuickBooks Timer file.  This step is not necessary if you choose the QuickBooks Integration Options above.

4. Optionally view the Timer file in Notepad.
   You can open a QuickBooks IIF Timer file in Notepad to view the time logs that Standard Time has written into it  You may choose to do this before importing the file into QuickBooks.

5. Import Timer file into QuickBooks.
   Choose File, Timer, Import Activities From Timer within QuickBooks to import the Timer file that Standard Time has created.

6. Optionally, export Standard Time expenses
   Choose File, Export within Standard Time to export expenses to QuickBooks.
